It is estimated that approximately half of all houses are sold based
upon "curb appeal". When you stand across the street
from your home and evaluate its appearance, you are gauging its curb
appeal. The following ten items provide a check-list for helping
to sell your home.
-
Sweep or
shovel the front entryways.
-
Remove any unnecessary
clutter: papers, toys, etc.
-
Park extra
cars away from the property.
-
Trim property
shrubs and hedges.
-
Clean windows
and doorways where cobwebs can collect.
-
Paint window
and door trim.
-
Make sure roof
and gutters are in good condition.
-
Mow the lawn
more frequently and plant flowers.
-
Keep pet areas
clean.
-
Ensure outside
fixtures work and that all lights have bulbs.
Once inside is
where the other half of all houses are sold. Here is a check-list
to help promote the best "inside appeal" of your home.
-
Ensure the
kitchen and bathrooms are shined.
-
Vacuum all
carpets.
-
Fresh flowers
in the main areas provide a complimentary adornment.
-
Wash dishes
and put away in cupboards.
-
Make beds and
put all clothes away.
-

and turn on lights for a brighter feel. Open windows, weather
permitting.
-
Put toys,
magazines, newspapers and other similar items away.
-
Keep pets out
of the way and pet areas clean and odour-free..
-
Enhance the
spaciousness of each room. Pack away collectables to allow buyer to
envision their own furnishings in the home.
Remember,
potential buyers often feel more comfortable if the owners are not
present during viewing; however, should people unaccompanied by an agent
request a viewing, refer them to your real estate agent for an
appointment. |
